Tax advice for Investments in Cryptocurrencies
Cryptoassets are a core component of more and more portfolios. At the same time, compliance requirements are increasing — in particular as a result of EU transparency obligations (DAC8), high transaction volumes and unresolved classification issues.
We classify your crypto activities from trading, lending and staking for tax purposes, check the plausibility of stock exchange and wallet data and assist you through to a consistent declaration and communication with the tax office — from inquiries to financial court clarification.
Tax Compliance & Filings
Tax compliance for crypto assets starts with the right qualification for German tax purposes and ends with a consistent statement that withstands inquiries by the German tax authorities.
Our services:
- Review: Tax audit and classification of crypto assets as currency, utility, security and non-fungible tokens (NFT)
- Compliance: financial accounting, financial statements, tax returns
- Documentation: Support with documentation and data consistency for crypto assets in corporate and private assets
- Tax Disputes: Assistance with inquiries and tax audits by the tax office
Tax Disputes
With the implementation of the DAC8 Directive by the Crypto Values Tax Transparency Act (KStTG), providers of crypto services will be required to report customer and transaction data to the German Federal Tax Office from 2026 onwards. This data enables the tax authorities to systematically compare the information received to the tax return — deviations can trigger automated audit reports and targeted inquiries.
In these cases, we provide you with reliable documentation and a clear strategy in communication with the tax office.
Our services:
- Follow-Up declarations: Follow-up declarations and voluntary self-disclosures of previous years
- Appeals & Lawsuits: Representation in appeals and lawsuits
- Coordination: Coordination of expert witnesses
